BOJAN KRKIC REBIRTH IN MLS
Spanish forward Bojan Krkic has been able to resurrect his football career following his move to Major League Soccer (MLS) team Montreal Impact in August 2019. He left European football for the MLS after his contract with English Championship outfit Stoke City was cancelled.
His career was at a crossroad before he signed for Montreal Impact as a free agent until the end of the 2020 season. BojanKrkic netted three goals in eight appearances for the remainder of the 2019 MLS season before adding four goals and two assists in 18 matches in the current campaign (2020 season). The 30-year-old also featured for Montreal Impact during the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League where he provided one assist in two games.
The one-time Spanish international was recently named the MLS Player of the Week. BojanKrkic won the award for week 19 after his impressive performance against David Beckham-owned Inter Miami. He scored the opening goal of the game before providing the winning goal for Argentine striker Maximiliano Urrutiwith ten minutes left on the clock.
Bojan was the star of the show as Montreal Impact beat 10-man Inter Miami 2-1 at home. Brek Shea was responsible for the lone goal scored by the visitors and it came in the first half of the MLS week 19 encounter in October.
Former AS Roma and Barcelona star Bojan is the first Montreal Impact player to win the accolade since Lassi Lappalainen won it in week 21 of the 2019 MLS season. His manager Thierry Henry also won the Manager of the Week for the same week for masterminding the win.
BojanKrkic was once hailed as the heir to the magnificent throne of Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp while he was coming through their youth ranks. It is safe to say that the Spaniard has not lived up to that hype.
